Shanty Creek Resorts offers three villages for guests to enjoy.  In addition to your home village of Schuss, you can access Summit Village and Cedar River village with a three-minute drive.

Summit Village has a small downhill skiing area, perfect for beginners, but is more of a summer-themed destination with premium golf courses.  There is a modern lodge/hotel including the Lakeview Bar and Grill, a spectacular view of Lake Bellaire, and a host of small shops.

Cedar River is the newest addition to Shanty Creek resort and boasts a modern hotel/lodge which includes a bar/grill, ski shop, and golf clubhouse.  You can access the Schuss Mountain slopes from the Cedar River chair lift, making it possible to ski back and forth to the villages of Schuss and Cedar River throughout the day.  There are also some nice hiking trails in the summer that will take you from Schuss Village to Cedar Village.

There is a shuttle that runs from 7am until midnight, 7 days a week. Shuttle between ski hills or golf courses or over to the Summit Village spa and pools. The shuttle also runs to and from Bellaire. There is nominal resort fee for using the shuttle.

Skiing:

The resort’s 4500 acres offer downhill skiing with 53 runs on its 2 mountains with 4 terrain parks, a 300' halfpipe, and a 450-foot vertical drop. From beginner to advanced, there is something for every skier or snow boarder here. Shanty Creek offers 30K of groomed cross-country trails.

Tubing:

The Cedar River tubing park is a speedy downhill thrill for your whole crew on Schuss Mountain's north face. SCR's eight lane tubing park is fun for kids, families or groups.

Snowmobiles:

Blue Sky offers 4-, 8- or 24-hour rentals. They also offer a 48-hour weekend rental.

Golf:

Schuss Mountain is the most serene of the three villages in the Shanty Creek resort. Golf spring Summer and Fall at Shanty Creek. The resort offers 72 holes on 4 championship courses. Schuss Mountain golf course is right out your front door. We sit on the 18th hole within walking distance to the clubhouse. The shuttle can take you back and forth from Summit to Schuss village throughout the day and evening.

Fall:

Our prime fall color time is the first two weeks in October. Include us on your fall color tour.

Bellaire & Mancelona:

The town of Bellaire, just 7 miles northwest, is a wonderful town to visit for tourists and locals alike. You can find dining options, Shorts microbrewery with their delicious unique sandwiches, soup and pizza, Bee Well Meadery, antique shops, a movie theater, coffee shop and restaurants. Bellaire Bar has a full menu ranging from dinners to burgers at reasonable prices.

Mancelona, 6 miles southeast, is a bit more convenient and offers merchants including McDonalds, a couple bar/grills, party stores, hardware, dollar stores, and other local businesses for your needs.

Day Trips:

This is a great location to use as a hub and take day trips to Traverse City (50 minutes), Petoskey (50 minutes), Torch Lake (20 minutes), Boyne City (40 minutes) or Charlevoix (45 minutes).  There are also numerous quant small towns along the Chain-O-Lakes water trail. Riverside marina rents boats which would be a great way to explore the Chain-O-Lakes.  There is also a public boat launch at Lake Bellaire, and Paddles and Pedals shop in Bellaire will deliver bikes, canoes, or kayaks to you at the condo or wherever you would like to use them.  Turtle Creek Casino only 26 miles away!
